Nathan Michalewicz

Nathan Michalewicz is a Ph.D. candidate in history at George Mason University. He received his B.A. and M.A. in history from the University of West Georgia. His research interests include early modern Europe, early Modern France, the Ottoman Empire, and Christian-Muslim relations in early Modern Europe. His dissertation studies French diplomacy with the Ottoman Empire during the French Wars of Religion (1562-1598). Through analyzing diplomatic goals and official diplomatic correspondence, his dissertation will discuss how the French diplomatic corps viewed the Ottoman Empire's relationship to French and European politics. It will also discuss the role of ambassadors in informed those views.
